Blacklisted by EU, Fridman steps down from VEON board

MOSCOW, Mar 1 (PRIME) -- Russian businessman Mikhail Fridman has left the board of directors of telecommunications holding VEON, the sole owner of mobile operator VimpelCom, VEON said on Tuesday in a statement.

“VEON…today announces that Mr. Fridman has resigned as director of the VEON board with effect from February 28, 2022,” VEON said.

The E.U. earlier put Fridman, head of LetterOne, VEON’s largest shareholder, on the sanctions list.
